Hickorynut
The Full Story
At the edge of the Horizon West border lies “Village H” also known as the village of Hickorynut. Hickorynut’s location gives residents the charm and convenience of the Horizon West area while maintaining an easy drive to metropolitan Orlando. Like much of the Winter Garden area, Hickorynut offers residents the best of both worlds, making it a wonderful place to live.
Hickorynut Lake is the namesake for the beautiful village of Hickorynut. Several of the surrounding neighborhoods directly share a border with Hickorynut, due to it’s unique shape. This allows for arresting views for nightly walks, as well as gorgeous sunsets and even family time that could include your boat. Hickorynut Lake is a popular spot for fishermen as well, with Largemouth Bass, Black Crappies and Black Bullheads being common species caught in the water.
The Waterleigh community is one of the bigger communities gracing the Hickorynut area, and features a plethora of amenities. There seems to be something for every resident’s interest. There are plenty of exercise facilities for the more active residents with a full gym, a volleyball and tennis court, mini-golf, and nature trails. Waterleigh offers not one but two resort style clubhouses with event and office spaces and a children’s area decorated with your little one’s favorite Disney characters. The community center also has outdoor luxury seating and an outdoor kitchen area.
The pool features a no entry entrance as well as fountains throughout that add to the family fun. For more fun with the little ones, there is a “Tot Lot’ or a playground for younger kids. The neighborhood also offers a community garden, an innovative feature unique to Waterleigh. In addition to nature trails, Waterleigh provides beautiful natural landscapes and waterfront access to a number of picturesque lakes. There is also a gazebo with outdoor seating that overlooks another of Waterleigh’s gorgeous lakes, perfect for nature lovers. The luxurious design of each of these amenities will make you forget you aren’t in a high end resort.
Waterleigh is the perfect spot for golfers, not only because of it’s mini-golf but also because it is a short 10 minute drive from the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge. This golf center is the perfect spot to spend the day either golfing on three unique courses, having lunch a the Orange 83 Pub and Grill, or shopping for new gear at the golf shop. Tee times start as early as 6:45 AM for the early birds and go until 6 PM for those who want a tee off time after work. Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge also offers golf lessons for groups as well as junior players starting as early as 5 years old.
If that wasn't enough for you to already be in love with Waterleigh, consider that they will soon have their very own town center anchored by a Publix grocery store. This will be a shopping complex with many other retailers most yet to be announced. It seems the town center is just starting to break ground. Just think you could literally enjoy this community and rarely ever have to leave it.
